The Johnsons — a hard working couple

Meet Brad and Stephanie:  They are the proud parents of six children.  They have worked hard to put a roof over their heads and feed them.  Many of their children are of college age.  The current tax system deprives them of money they could be using to fund their kids' college tuition, weddings, or just to take trips they couldn't afford in the past.  They no longer have to pay the state to keep their house.

They benefit from  three of the rights built into our legislation:

  • No state income tax
  • No property tax
  • No Nebraska estate tax

For more information, go to our page on these rights.  You also have access to the EPIC Calculator they mentioned in the video.

The Johnsons emphasized the potential savings to hardworking families.  What about funding the state fairly?  After all, a "fair and just tax system" is first in our Bill of Rights!  Because the effective rate goes up with the amount spent, the EPIC tax is inherently progressive.  How does that rate stay low so even big spenders find it affordable?  By expanding the tax base as illustrated by this chart.

Lyn Miller — an Experienced Ag Business Owner

Lyn Miller — his story

Lyn Miller is an experienced ag business owner and educator from Chadron, Nebraska. He has been concerned for some time about "the huge number of taxes Nebraska citizens pay for each year". Like many of us, he has come to the realization that EPIC is the solution he has been trying to find!

Lyn appreciates the consolidation of five taxes into one.  It provides the simplicity he has been searching for:

No State income Tax

No Property Tax

No Nebraska Estate Tax

No Business Taxes

Simplicity is the Number One Principle of Taxation.

Click on the links below to see how this idea of simplicity helps to mitigate the cost of government that affects your taxes.

For more information, go to our page on these rights, each of which is based solidly on the Principles of Taxation. You also have access to the EPIC Calculator.

Ben Kloos — A Young Business Owner

Ben Kloos — his story

Ben Kloos is a young, hardworking entrepreneur living in the Omaha suburb of Irvington who owns a landscaping company.   Ben likes the EPIC Consumption Tax because of its common sense logic.  He and his wife have three children — 4 years old, 2 years, and one 6 months old.  He considers the EPIC Tax bold and innovative because it solves our broken tax system by consolidating five taxes down into one.

Ben encourages you to try out the EPIC Tax Calculator (just scroll down) for yourself to see how many thousands of dollars you can save.  He benefits from many rights promised and built into our proposed legislation:

No State income Tax

No Property Tax

No Nebraska Estate Tax

No Business Taxes

How does he benefit from all these?  Ben emphasized the simplification of our system by the ocnsolidation of all these by one simple tax.  How can this happen?  We need to dig deeper into good tax principles.  The one principle these all have in common is that they are simple.  Simplicity is the Number One Principle of Taxation.

Ever heard of the KISS principle?  (Keep It Simple, Stella)   Click on the links below to see how this idea of simplicity helps to mitigate the cost of government that affects your taxes.

Dave Paris — a hard working rancher

Meet Dave Paris: He is a hardworking rancher who bought land in Northwest Nebraska, near Marsland, to escape the arid, non-productive climate of Nevada. He has worked hard to establish a cattle operation that he can pass to his children and grandchildren. He likely will not be able to do that unless a tax reform like EPIC comes along. He has watched his friends move out of the state to retire, staying as close to their grandchildren as possible, but not in the same community.

Like the Johnsons, an urban couple in Lincoln, Dave will benefit from three of the rights built into our legislation:

No state income tax
No property tax
No Nebraska estate tax

For more information, go to our page on these rights, each of which is based solidly on the Principles of Taxation. You also have access to the EPIC Calculator.

Urban or rural, EPIC Tax Reform has benefits for all Nebraskans.

Dillon Laurent — Project Manager and Estimator

Dillon Laurent — his story

Dillon is Project Manager and Estimator for his family business constructing track and tennis facilities. He sees value in the savings most families will see from eliminating five state taxes. He urges you to use the EPIC tax calculator to see yours.

Dillon and his family pay a lot for property and income taxes.  He likes the EPIC tax because it eliminates five taxes and allows them to pay one tax up front.  He urges you to use the EPIC tax calculator (below) to see their own savings that they could use to save for college or a wedding for their kids, to expand or buy new equipment for their business, or to give more generously to those less fortunate.

Once again, EPIC shines on the principle of simplicity.  Click on the links below to see how this idea of simplicity helps to mitigate the cost of government that affects your taxes.

“[EPIC Option] takes the boot off the throat of the economic engine that creates security for all the citizens of the state.”
